History

History and evolution of our traditional family business:

1955

Wolfgang Florschuetz and his father Heinrich Florschütz began early with the Bee breeding. First there were about 100 colonies of bees, which they took care of. The finished honey was sold to various dealers, and even the cosmetics industry has not been neglected.

1958

Beginning of the Met production by beekeepers-honored tradition. Heinrich Florschütz was at a young age and worked as a beekeeper and made the first Met according to traditional recipes in his private rooms. The honey wine was sold mainly in health food stores.

1959

After Heinrich Florschütz passed away the Winery was temporary stopped. Short after that his son Wolfgang Florschütz took over the company. His main goal was to improve the Quality of the Met.

1960

Expansion and acquisition of new buildings. Official founding of the company (today Honey-Met Winery) based in Bielefeld by Wolfgang Florschuetz.

1962

Wolfgang Florschütz managed to improve the quality of the Met, he mixed with the different honey varieties and thus developed his own recipe.

Its flavor stood out clearly from the competition and other market vendors. Meanwhile, his Met was sold nationwide.

Sein Geschmack hob sich deutlich von der Konkurrenz und den anderen Markt-Händlern ab. Mittlerweile wurde sein Met landesweit verkauft. Speziell in der Heide wurde sein Met zum Verkaufsschlager.

1979

Wolfgang Florschütz ran the current winery successful until his death.

1980

The brewer Edmund Nowak leased at 01 April 1980, the winery, which he later earned a first part and eventually took over.

He set forth his Met according to the recipe by Wolfgang Florschütz and provided simultaneously improving quality Mets by his knowledge and experience as a brew master.

1998

The products of the Met officially celebrated at the Christmas market in Paderborn their “debut” as a hot drink. The first time a family history of the honey wine was served to the consumers in this form.

Since then there has been consumed annually in a relaxed atmosphere, Met and honey wine in different variations. In addition, the company delivers nationwide for years successfully market products to various retailers.

2000

The company had sold up to that time at the Christmas markets the classic Met. For the first time the Met was mixed with cherry concentrate and offered to the customer. This Met is also known as german blood – now it’s called Red Met. [divider top=”0″]
